Savage Red 2017 96/100
The Savage Red is now a varietal Syrah for the first time, having previously been a cuvée of different grapes. Sourced from granite soils and grown biodynamically, it's wonderfully intense, peppery red with real grace, precision and complexity, fresh acidity and just a hint of oak. 2021-27

Savage Thief in the Night 2018 95/100
The original idea behind Thief in the Night was to make a Rhône style blend with 80% Grenache, but yields have been so low in Piekenierskloof in recent vintages that this has ended up with 25% each of Cinsault and Syrah. The result is still superb, with fynbos, raspberry and red cherry aromas, stylish, sinewy tannins and a long, spicy, tapering finish. 2022-30

Savage Girl Next Door 2018 94/100
Labelled as a Cape Town red, but sourced from a 0.38-hectare parcel close to Duncan Savage's home on the Cape Peninsula, this is a stylish, small volume Syrah on sand, clay and ferricrete soils. With white pepper and sea breeze aromas, lots of colour and intense red berry and blackberry fruit this partially whole bunch fermented red is delicious. 2021-28

Savage White 2018 93/100
Duncan Savage is an old hand at making superb white blends and this medley of mostly Sauvignon Blanc with 30% Semillon and 20% Chenin Blanc is another impressive cuvée. Fermented in older wood with 10% malolactic, it's herbal, textured and refreshing with a leesy, cream mid palate and notes of grapefruit and citrus. 2019-24

Savage Are We There Yet? 2018 93/100
"Are we there yet?" is a question familiar to most parents and in this case refers to the isolation of Malgas, where Duncan Savage sources this 50/50 blend of Touriga Nacional and Syrah. Serious, sinewy and muscular with inky, meaty, black olive and damson flavours and a mixture of density and balance. 2023-30
Savage Never Been Asked to Dance 2018 93/100

Paarl is the only source of Duncan Savage's Chenin Blanc this year as he is no longer using a component from Malgas. Rich, aromatic and textured, with 100% malolactic adding a creamy mid palate, some peach and beeswax flavours and a hint of skin tannins. 2020-24
