Mixtura Red 2018
Mixtura WinesStunning complex and energetic single-vineyard from eccentric caiño longo from the village of Beiro in Ribeiro. Vibrant aromatic, with, in addition to floral and spicy aromas, also notes of citrus and dark forest fruits. In the mouth deep dark fruit and a well-structured backbone with refined acidity and an impressive finish. Undoubtedly the best single-variety wine from caiño longo, only one cask produced, very limited.

About the winemaker
Winemaker Gutier Seijo has earned his spurs as a winemaker. He is considered one of the pioneers of Galicia and his Mixtura is a project with the old vineyards along the rivers Sil and Miño on the border of Spain and Portugal. The vineyards are located in different regions such as Valdeorras, Bierzo, Ribeira Sacra. Ribeiro and Rias Baixas. All vineyards are worked according to the rules of organic viticulture and the vinification is as natural as possible on concrete eggs and old stockinger barrels. Addition of sulphite is minimal and only during bottling. Mixtura is an ideology rather than a standard wine company. A project in which Gutier can show all his skills as a winemaker with the freedoms of an artist in his studio.

Practising organics
Details
| Vineyard | The Paraje vineyard, only 0.2 ha, was planted between 2013 and 2019 with naturally low-yielding, old clonal selection on typical sábrego blanco soils, white sandy decomposed granite. Ribeiro has a transitional climate with a Mediterranean character that is tempered by the influence of the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean. Gutier works the vineyard by hand, using organic and regenerative principles, including inter-row planting. |

| Vinification | Hand-harvested bunches are rigorously selected in the vineyard. After de-stalking and crushing, spontaneous fermentation in used, open French oak barrels of 225 liter without temperature control. After alcoholic fermentation, 12 months of aging and spontaneous malolactic fermentation in the same barrels on the fine lees. The wine is then racked into large-format Austrian Stockinger foudre, where it spends a further 36 months aging. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, with minimal sulfur at bottling. |
