About the winemaker
Winemaker Gutier Seijo has earned his spurs as a winemaker. He is considered one of the pioneers of Galicia and his Mixtura is a project with the old vineyards along the rivers Sil and Miño on the border of Spain and Portugal. The vineyards are located in different regions such as Valdeorras, Bierzo, Ribeira Sacra. Ribeiro and Rias Baixas. All vineyards are worked according to the rules of organic viticulture and the vinification is as natural as possible on concrete eggs and old stockinger barrels. Addition of sulphite is minimal and only during bottling. Mixtura is an ideology rather than a standard wine company. A project in which Gutier can show all his skills as a winemaker with the freedoms of an artist in his studio.

Details
| Vineyard | Made from manually harvested treixadura and albariño from two different plots. The plot for the treixadura comes from the Ribeiro area, with a soil of sabrego (weathered granite). The albariño comes from Melgaço, a village and sub-area of the Portuguese Vinho Verde D.O. The soils here are also sandy with decomposed granite and are strongly influenced by a cool Atlantic climate. |
|---|---|
| Vinification | Hand-harvested. Bunches are selected in the vineyard, with only the very best fruit selected for this wine. The treixadura is fermented using wild yeasts in an Austrian oak foudre, followed by ageing for twelve months in an Austrian oak foudre on its lees. The albariño is fermented using wild yeasts in an amphora, followed by ageing for twelve months in an amphora on its lees. Later, Treixadura and Albariño are blended 50/50 in a concrete tank, followed by ageing for another 12 months. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, with minimal sulfur at bottling. |
