The winemaker

Winemaker Country Region
Bouchard Père et Fils France Bourgogne - Côte de Beaune
About the winemaker Founded in 1731, Bouchard Père et Fils is one of the oldest wineries in Burgundy. A winery with a long history and an impressive acreage of vineyards. With 130 hectares of its own vineyards spread over 12 Grand Cru's and 74(!) premier cru's among others, winemaker Frédéric Weber has access to a unique terroir. As of the 2020 vintage, the vineyards are in conversion to organic viticulture and with this, the winery is sending a great signal in the Burgundy wine region. Many vineyards were already farmed organically, but the certification will follow in 2024. Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne, Chevalier-Montrachet, Beaune Grèves Vignes de l'Enfant Jésus, Bonnes-Mares, Meursault Perrières are some of the prestigious vineyards that belong to the vineyard estate.

Les Gouttes d'Or is located next to the premier cru's Les Poruzots and Bouchères. The vineyard of Bouchard Père & Fils measures 0.55 hectares of the 5.32 hectares that make up the appellation. Soil is rich in limestone and marl.
Vinification The harvest is manual and in 13-kilogram boxes. There is a gentle pressing that takes up to 2 hours. This is followed by fermentation, for 9 to 10 months, in 225-liter oak barrels of which 15% are new. The wines are blended and then stay on stainless steel for 3-4 months.
