This chardonnay has all the characteristics of a refined chardonnay. Something of the wood aging, ripe fruit and a slightly nutty character. The taste is nice and fresh with a certain richness at the same time.

About the winemaker Lismore Estate Vineyards can be found hidden in a mountain range in South Africa. The Californian Samantha O'Keefe found her paradise here and the perfect terroir to make her dream come true. Her passion combined with the unique terroir produces some beautiful "cool climate" wines. In the cellar, Samantha believes in minimal intervention and in the vineyards she finds a striking resemblance to the vineyards of the northern Rhône. Thanks to her pioneering work, the Greyton region has acquired its own Wine of Origin.

Details

Vineyard	30% of the grapes comes from Lismore’s vineyards in Greyton, the vineyards are planted in decomposed shale over clay at 300 metres in the foothills of the Sonderend Mountain Range . The other 70% of the grapes comes from Kaaimansgat in Elandskloof as well as grapes from the Upper Hemel en Aarde valley.
Vinification	The grapes were picked at optimal ripeness and whole bunch pressed, slowly extracting the juice at a rate of 600ltrs per ton. The juice was cold settled for 48 hours and was racked into 225, 300 and 500 litre older burgundian barrels for fermentation and 10 months of maturation. 5% new French oak was used in this vintage.
