The winemaker

Winemaker Country Region
Domaine Albert Grivault France Bourgogne - Côte de Beaune
About the winemaker The Albert Grivault family estate is run by Michel Bardet and his daughter Claire. Michel Bardet is the grandson of the founder Albert Grivault. Until the early 1980s, most of the domain's grapes were sold en vrac. After this, however, monsieur Bardet decided to start vinifying and bottling the wines himself again. Colleagues such as Lalou Bize-Leroy helped him on his way and now the domain, with perhaps the best terroir in Meursault, is counted among the top in the Côte de Beaune. In the early 1990s, monsieur Bardet opted for grand cru status for the monopole 'Clos des Perrières'. However, this met with much resistance from other winemakers in the village. Nevertheless, there are wine connoisseurs who would like to grant this status. The wines are made on minerality and have a great storage potential.

Vineyard The Albert Grivault estate, headed by grandson Michel Bardet, is the largest landowner in the premier cru Perrières and they own about a third of the total area in this acclaimed premier cru.
Vinification In the cellars of Albert Grivault, Michel Bardet works with his wines in a traditional way. Despite using traditional winemaking, he also experiments with his barrels. Different barrels from different parts of France are purchased to see how this affects his wines. The lagering is traditionally 12 months.
