About the winemaker
At the very tip of False Bay lie the vineyards of Cape Point Vineyards. This unique estate excels in white wines of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Semillon. Cape Point Vineyards is located on a headland, which is surrounded by both the Indian and Atlantic oceans. Two oceans, which bring a lot of coolness and ensure a real maritime climate. This is where the white grapes benefit. Sauvignon blanc and sémillon are dusty and grassy here, in a way not often seen in South Africa. Cape Point has grown up under the leadership of acclaimed winemaker Duncan Savage. He handed Cape Point over in 2016 to his assistant Riandri Visser, who like Duncan graduated from Elsenburg Agricultural College. Prior to Cape Point, she worked at Tierhoek and Tokara, among others, before starting in Cape Point's cellar from 2014. Cape Point Vineyards is counted among the best domains in South African viticulture.
