About the winemaker In 1982 Herbert Weis took over the Weingut Erben von Beulwitz in the Ruwer valley on the Mosel near Trier. Here we find vineyards on the steepest slopes in the country. Slopes where the soil is rich in slate. The main vineyard in the Ruwer Valley is the Kaseler Nies'chen and the Weis family has 2.5 hectares here divided into three different plots: Im Steingarten, Auf den Mauern and Im Taubenberg. On these vineyards only the diva of the grape varieties can be found, namely riesling. The vines on Herbert Weis' plots are over 100 years old and produce very low yields every year.

Vineyard	The Im Taubenberg plot was recognized as a vineyard as early as 1868 and was already counted among the top vineyards in the region at that time. By using the planting of different plants and herbs in every two rows on the vineyard, it is not necessary to work with pesticides or herbicides.
Vinification	In the cellar in Mertensdorf, the wines are vinified both in large oak barrels and in stainless steel barrels. As little intervention as possible is made during vinification.
