About the winemaker Jonathan Maltus came into contact with a winemaker in southern France in his thirties. In exchange for help in sales, he learned the craft of winemaking from this winemaker. Meeting this winemaker changed his life forever. Two years later, in 1994, Jonathan Maltus bought the dilapidated Chateau Teyssier to realize his dream: to make wines in Saint Emilion and then the best! This period in the 1990s is known as the period when new winemaking methods were emerging in this region and the winemakers who introduced this were also called garagistes. Jonathan was at the center of this new group of winemakers and soon his single vineyard wine Le Dôme was counted among the top 3 wines in the region. Now more than 20 years later, Jonathan has an impressive array of wines, all from selected vineyards with a special terroir. The Chateau Teyssier is his home and its vineyards now cover some 20 hectares.

Vineyard	The vineyard was planted in 1960 and 1980. This vineyard is located right next to the famous Château Angélus. The terroir is rich in calcareous clay and more towards Angélus a sandy terroir. The yield is about 30 hl/ha, which corresponds to four bunches per vine. Grape composition: 20% Merlot, 80% Cabernet Franc
Vinification	LE DOME has two runs of green harvesting – at fruit set and veraison – ensuring that only the most perfect are sorted – firstly by bunch and then, after destemming, grape by grape. Only conveyors are used to transport the grapes and the wine is fermented in wooden vats after cold maceration. The wines undergo malolactic fermentation in new French oak, and are barrel-aged in an air-conditioned cellar at 18°C.
