About the winemaker Domaine Philippe Milan was founded by the grandfather of current winemaker Karl Milan. The estate can be found in the village of Chassey-le-Champ, some 20 kilometers northwest of Chalon-sur-Saone. The vineyard holdings span several appellations such as Rully, Mercurey, Maranges, Santenay and Pommard. After 12 years of being responsible for vinification at the acclaimed Hamilton-Russell, Hannes Storm chose to focus entirely on his own wines. In 2008 he started planting his own vineyards in the Hemel-and-Earth Valley and in total he now has access to 4 different plots. The first vintage was in 2012 for the Peace Pinot Noir and Moya Pinot Noir (now Ignis). In 2015, the Peace Chardonnay and Ridge Pinot noir followed. With the addition of the Ridge vineyard, Hannes is the only winemaker in Hemel-and-Earth making wines on the three different terroirs the valley has.

Details

Vineyard	Rully is one of the most famous villages of the Côte Chalonnais. If you drive south from Chassagne-Montrachet it's just under fifteen minutes. The vineyards here are rich in limestone and both chardonnay and pinot noir are planted on this soil.
Vinification	Classic vinification on 225-liter oak barriques. Harvest is followed by peel soaking and lagering on new and used barriques. The harvest is entirely manual.
