Developed, mature Super-Toscan style. Aromatic with red fruit and nuanced balsamic notes of oak and bottle aging. Generous on the palate with red and dark fruit, leather, cocoa and spices, followed by a long, spicy finish.

Delicious with ribeye from the grill, bistecca alla fiorentina, leg of lamb, game stews and matured hard Italian (sheep) cheeses.

About the winemaker

Close to the vineyards of Montalcino, overlooking the Orcia Valley, in the municipality of Castiglione, are the vineyards of Alessandro Tognozzi Moreni. The domain has belonged to the noble family of Alessandro’s mother for more than 500 years. Count Tommaso Cervini, named “Contemaso” by the farmers, had managed the Montamiata estate with great passion, knowledge and farming competence. A heritage and a challenge that his grandson Alessandro has accepted with renewed commitment and enthusiasm.

Here, great wines are produced in small batches with a traditional patience and dedication. The completely southfacing vineyards are located between the Orcia river, the Ansedonia stream and Monte Amiata, an ancient volcano of just over 1700 meters.

Details

Vineyard	South-oriented vineyards at an altitude of 280 meters above sea level, located between the river Orcia and Mount Amiata. The clayey soil is rich in lime and minerals. The vineyards have a density of 5000 plants per hectare.
Vinification	Low yields per hectare, manual harvest. After spontaneous vinification, 15 months aging in oak Barrique and oak tonneaux, followed by 30 months aging in bottle.
