About the winemaker
Les Fils de Charles Trosset is a unique domain in the village of Arbin in the Savoie region. The twins Joseph and Louis took over the domain in 2000 after the death of their father. The brothers had clearly divided the tasks at the domain. Joseph managed the vineyards and if you asked him anything about vinification he referred to his brother Louis. For some years now Joseph has retired and that makes Louis today fully responsible for the 2.3 hectares of vineyards and the vinification. Louis Trosset makes a total of 4 different wines, one white from only roussanne and three different reds all from the mondeuse grape. The village of Arbin is one of the 17 cru's of Savoie and this domain is counted among the best producers of red wines in the region.

Practising organics
Details
| Vineyard | Louis' red wines are from different plots. Again, always low planting density, although different with the age of the vines. Young plantings have lower planting densities. This is all for better aeration, more sunlight and better photosynthesis. The method is simple, pruning is gobelet, minimal intervention in the vineyard, or in other words a completely organic method. Vines are about 25-30 years old and the soil in this vineyard is rich in calcareous pebbles. |
