Gevrey Chambertin La Justice 2021
Domaine Marc RoyThe La Justice has a smell and taste where mainly plums and dark cherries predominate. The wine has less concentration than the Clos Prieur, but is actually just finer in style. This is a Gevrey with a lot of finesse.

About the winemaker
The Domaine Marc Roy is one of the smaller domains in Gevrey-Chambertin and has about 4 hectares of vineyards. The domain was founded by Victor Roy, grandfather of Alexandrine who today heads the vinification. Until the 1980s the grapes went to négociants, but this changed with the entry of Marc Roy in 1982. He decided to bottle himself and this was an important turning point at the domain. Alexandrine returned to the estate in 2003 after internships in Australia and New Zealand and is now making her mark, both in the vineyards and in the cellar. More attention is being paid to the vineyards, plowing is back in full swing, more is being done to reduce yields, and during the manual harvest, the work is even more meticulous. Looking at reviews at Burghound and Winehog, among others, one can say that this relatively unknown domain belongs to the top of the appellation. The truth is in the bottle!

Details
| Vineyard | For this cuvée, Alexandrine uses a specific plot within the lieu-dit La Justice, which is about 0.33 hectares in size. The vines in this plot are all planted before 1970 and thus over fifty years old. |

| Vinification | The vinification at Alexandrine is quite classic. It uses de-stemmed and about 20% new oak. Selection of the grapes already takes place in the vineyard and thus there is no sorting table at the estate. The wines are bottled before the next harvest in the month of August. |
