Pommard 1er Cru Clos Blanc 2020

The premier cru Clos Blanc has a beautiful ruby red colour. The wine has a lot of structure and a rich aroma with ripe red fruit and floral tones. The taste is broad and rich with fine tones of the wood storage. Textbook example of a Pommard, more a muscular wine than the Volnay's of Boillot.

About the winemaker The Domaine Henri Boillot was created in 1885 and since 1975 the grandson of the founder has been at the helm. He also founded the négoce in 1995 and propelled the domain to great heights. Since 2008, Henri's son, Guillaume, has been involved in the domain. At first, Guillaume only had responsibility for the vineyards, but since 2019 he is also fully responsible for the vinification of all wines. This puts the next generation at the head of this wonderful wine estate. With vineyards in Volnay, Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault and every year as a négociant the disposal of several Grand Cru's like Clos de Vougeot, Latricières-Chambertin, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Le Montrachet and many other appellations, it is a unique domain that belongs to the top of Burgundy.

Vineyard	The premier cru Clos Blanc is Henri Boillot's only premier cru vineyard in Pommard. The vineyard was planted fairly recently (2008) and has a soil, which is mainly composed of calcareous marlstone. The vineyard has a planting density of 10,000 vines per hectare.
Vinification	At Henri Boillot, red wine making is practiced, according to the vinification integrale. A unique method where whole grapes are put directly into the barrel and the entire vinification takes place in the barrel. All the aromas are thus well preserved. For this wine, all the barriques used are new.
