About the winemaker After being responsible for vinification at the acclaimed Hamilton-Russell for 12 years, Hannes Storm has chosen to fully focus on his own wines. In 2008 he started planting his own vineyards in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and in total he now has 4 different plots at his disposal. The first vintage was in 2012 for Vrede Pinot Noir and Moya Pinot Noir (nowadays Ignis). In 2015, Vrede Chardonnay and Ridge Pinot noir followed. With the addition of the Ridge vineyard, Hannes is the only winemaker in Hemel-en-Aarde who makes wines on the three different terroirs that the valley knows.

Details

Vineyard	Latin for fire is the name of this vineyard. Something that refers to the granite that is amply represented in the soil of this vineyard in Upper Hemel Hempstead. The top of the soil here is covered with large pebbles.
Vinification	After harvest, the grapes are pressed in a basketpress and after this follows fermentation in oak. Malolactic fermentation is complete and oak ageing is as follows: 25% new barrels, 25% second year and the rest is third year. The total oak ageing is 10 months. Only 3300 bottles produced.
