Seductive tinta barocca from old vines from the valley of the gusts, Sk'windjiesvlei in Afrikaans. Rich nose with dark fruit, spices and earthy notes. Generous on the palate with black fruit, figs and white pepper, refined tannins and good length.

Delicious with barbecue, grilled entrecote, lamb chops, pasta dishes and mature hard cheeses.

About the winemaker A.A. Badenhorst Family Wines is the farm of Adi and his cousin Hein on the Paardeberg in Swartland South Africa. Adi is one of the most talked about winemakers of this area and, together with Eben Sadie, is seen as the pioneers of this popular wine region in South Africa. It was they who put this region on the map with wines from old vineyards and of a uniquely high level. Adi now cultivates a large area of vineyards and only the best vineyards are used for the famous Single-Vineyard wines. He works in the vineyards and cellar in a "baie-logical" way with respect for grape, nature and terroir.

Vineyard	Small plot (5.5 hectares) of an adjoining friendly farm on the Paardeberg, with a southeast orientation and a weathered granite soil, planted in 1962.
Vinification	Half of the fruit is destemmed after cooling, after which all the fruit together is fermented in a concrete tank with daily pumping over for extraction. After pressing maturation for 11 months on a foudre of 2000L. The wine is then bottled unfiltered.
