An impressive, fine-lined Spätburgunder with refined tannins and a very impressive aftertaste. Aromas of lush cherry fruit and warm spices. This is one of Josef Michel's top wines and a Grosses Gewächs pur sang.

Vineyard |
The SCHLOSSBERG is located north of Achkarren and reaches more than 350 m above sea level. The name goes back to Höhingen Castle, built in the 13th century, whose weathered ruins can still be found found on the summit today. The ground is stony because the vines are also rooted in the dark tephrite here. The work in the up to 60 percent steep slopes is intensive and demanding. The curved shape of the mountain creates a specific microclimate, typical of this terroir. |

Vinification |
At the beginning of September, the grapes are picked by hand and strictly sorted. The traditional skin maceration takes place in open stainless steel tanks for 20 days. After pressing, the wine matures for 12 months in French oak barrels (228 l), 60% of the casks were new and% percent were in their second use. The bottling took place without filtration. |
