Thibaud Clerget

The Domaine Y. Clerget is one of the oldest domains in Burgundy. Since 1268 and thus for 28 (!) generations the family has been making wine and is thus closely linked to the region and the terroir of Burgundy. Since 2015, Thibaud Clerget (1991) has been responsible for vinification at the family estate. He works his six hectares of vineyards with unprecedented precision and respect for nature. With vineyard holdings in Volnay, Pommard, Clos de Vougeot and Meursault, he watches over the family estate every day. The cellars are located in Pommard and here the wines are raised with unprecedented passion and talent. With the arrival of Thibaud the domain moved from Volnay to Pommard. Here Thibaud has a beautiful domain at his disposal with an excellent cellar for the breeding of his wines. Thibaud works according to the rules of organic winegrowing and his way of working he developed after internships at Domaine Drouhin in Oregon, Geisen in New Zealand, Hudelot-Noëllat and Henri Boillot in Bourgogne. In total, Thibaud cultivates 6 hectares of vineyard, all of which he owns. The vineyards are located in Volnay, Pommard, Meursault and Vougeot. Thibaud Clerget

Thibaud was born in 1991 and at first seemed destined to become a professional golfer. When he was about twenty years old, he decided that his future really lay in the family domain. He did apprenticeships in New Zealand, Oregon and in Bourgogne with Henri Boillot and Hudelot-Noëllat before returning home. Since Thibaud's arrival, Domaine Clerget not only has a new face, but also a new destination. Thibaud has both feet firmly on the ground and leads the domain: from the vineyard to marketing, Thibaud is present on all fronts. His ambition? To always try to improve his winemaking and also to improve the vineyards. His vision, his humility and his taste for adventure make him one of the most promising winemakers of his generation.

Burgundy Wines

In fact, the Burgundy wine region consists of six different areas. The most northerly is Chablis where only white wines are made on the unique chalk soils. The Côte de Nuits can be found between Dijon and Beaune, a sub-region where mainly red wines are made. Here you can find Grand Crus such as Vlos de Vougeot, Echézeaux and Mazis-Chambertin. Between Beaune and Chalon-sur-Saone lies the Côte de Beaune. A region where both white and red are made, but the white wines from villages such as Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet have almost reached cult status. Chalonnais begins south of Chassagne-Montrachet, an area with villages such as Rully and Mercurey. Here wines are made with a wonderful price-quality ratio. The most famous white wines from the south in Burgundy, the Maconnais, bear names such as Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran and Mâcon. A little further south is the Beaujolais, also part of Burgundy. No pinot noir here, but gamay for the red wines
