About the winemaker Domaine d'Auvenay is one of the three entities of Lalou Bize-Leroy. Next to Maison Leroy and Domaine Leroy, this is perhaps her most precious asset. It is an old property and the place where the family started viticulture. Under Domaine d'Auvenay falls a vineyard estate of about 4 hectares in 16 different appellations of origin. The fact is that most of the vineyards are very small and the way of working in the vineyard leads to very small yields. No more than one barrel of most wines is produced.

Vineyard	The vineyard for this wine is located in Meursault and was planted in 1945. The vineyard is 0.67 hectares in size. Yield is about 1,800 bottles per year.
Vinification	The domaine manages as many as 40 people who hand-sort each bunch. At d'Auvenay, work is done according to the vinification entière, but the thick top of each bunch is cut and removed by hand and each bunch size made uniform, large bunches are cut in half to create an even settling in the tank. Sorting is considered so important that the process is never rushed and is carried out by the same group of workers, who have worked in the field for many years. If necessary, they keep grapes cool in storage overnight during the busiest harvest period to allow for adequate sorting of each batch that enters the winery. After vinification, the wines often continue to age for many years in the estate's cellars.
