Christopher & Philipp

The brothers Philipp and Christopher took over the family domain in Florsheim several years ago. Philipp has completed his studies in Geisenheim and Christopher has just started. Two young top talents in German viticulture. The vineyards of the estate are located in the triangle between Bingen, Mainz and Worms and extend for about 20 kilometers. The vineyards are mainly planted with Riesling for the white wines, but also with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. For the reds, we see Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir. The soils of the vineyards vary greatly and include limestone, loam, loess and calcareous marl. The Bordeaux varieties are on a vineyard with a lot of gravel. Since 2013, the domain has been working according to the European rules, which apply to organic viticulture. The focus is there to grow grapes, which are fully ripe to then be harvested by hand.

Christopher & Philipp

Both brothers were brought up on wine. Both had an education at Geisenheim and impressive internships. The brothers believe in their ideas and are not afraid to work and think outside the box. Why should Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay not be possible in Rheinhessen? Philipp learned to work with the former grape during his internship at Verité in Sonoma County, a place where you don't get an internship for nothing. The house receives top marks from international journalists and only three internships a year are distributed here. It is obvious that the men can also work with Riesling and Silvaner. Perhaps this is due to Christopher's internship with Hans-Oliver Spanier of the famous Battenfeld-Spanier.

Gewürztraminer Spätlese 2020

Rich, pronounced Gewürztraminer. Full, expressive, distinctive notes of lychee and rose petals, with nice balanced acidity and a rather rich long slightly sweet finish. Wonderfully easy to digest, partly due to the low alcohol percentage.

Much spiciness in this wine. Ripe fruit and a certain filling with a full aftertaste. The acidity and length of the wine are impressive. Serve with, for example, lobster and rich fish dishes.
