About the winemaker
Eben Sadie is counted among the pioneers in South African viticulture. Because of his insight it can be said, that the Swartland region came in a completely different light. It was Eben, who found the older vineyards here and made his famous Columella and Palladius. In 2012 he started a series of wines, also called the Ouwingerd series. A series of wines from vineyards with very old vines and the wines made from them are stunning. Through low yields and the craftsmanship of Eben Sadie, a new series of top wines from the Cape is born.

Details
| Vineyard | Vineyard located on Dirk Brand's rooibos and wheat farm. This is the most isolated vineyard in the country and was planted to make our own wine. The vineyard is 1.4 acres and planted between 1900 and 1928. All the vines are pre-phylloxera and the vines are planted criss-cross. As a result, it is a fieldblend. The vineyard is not irrigated and no herbicides or pesticides have ever been used in the vineyard. |

| Vinification | Grapes from the vineyards are pressed and vinified together and after pressing, go directly into old wooden barrels. After 12 months, bottling takes place. The wine is neither clarified nor filtered and is best decanted before drinking. Yield was 13 hl/ha. |
