Frédéric Bousquet

Château Grand Moulin is located in the picturesque Lézignan-Corbières, some 30 km west of the Mediterranean Sea. For over 40 years, father and son Bousquet have selected and planted more than 200 plots of land, in order to optimally draw on the diversity of terroirs of Corbières. The cellars and winery are located in a striking building in the heart of the city of Lézignan-Corbières. The Corbières massif is an extension of the Pyrenees, located between Carcassonne and the Mediterranean Sea. The vineyards of Château Grand Moulin are located here in the Lézignan valley, an extremely windy corridor, wedged between the Montagne Noire and the Corbières massif. Here the wind blows more than 300 days a year and the dominant westerly wind (called 'Cers') evaporates the morning dew and thus contributes to the microclimate that is particularly healthy for viticulture. Frédéric Bousquet

At the age of 17, the young Jean-Noël Bousquet bought his first hectare. Years later, in 1988, the enthusiastic Jean-Noël established himself as an independent winegrower with 24 hectares of vineyards in the heart of the Corbières. Over the years, the vineyard area grew and Jean-Noël modernised his cellar. Disaster struck in 1999 when almost all the vineyards were destroyed by a huge flood. Thanks to the support of friends, suppliers and family, the estate was restored to its former glory. The young and extremely ambitious son Frédéric Bousquet returned from a stay in Canada in 2014 to take over from his father Jean Noël. Today, Frédéric is responsible for the vinification and has a range of terroirs at his disposal with no less than 200 plots spread over 5 municipalities in the Corbières.

Delicious aromatic vermentino. Refreshing fruity nose with floral nuances and a mineral touch. Refreshing in the mouth with lots of white and yellow fruit, citrus, some saltiness and a beautiful refined acidity. Delicious as an aperitif, with shellfish (grilled) white fish and young cheeses.

French Wines

Many famous and very special wines are made in France. It is perhaps the wine country with the greatest wines and grapes. From the north east to the border with Spain, wines are made from many different grape varieties. Wine is part of the country's culture and a meal without wine is unthinkable here. French wine regions such as Burgundy, Bordeaux, Rhône, Loire, Alsace, Jura and Languedoc are just a few of the unique wine regions that can be found in the country.

French red wine

The main grapes for red wine in France are, without wanting to discredit any other grape variety: pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah. Pinot noir is the grape variety of Burgundy and great French wines such as Volnay, Pommard, Corton and Clos de Vougeot are made from this grape variety. Cabernet sauvignon and merlot are mainly planted in Bordeaux, the region of Saint-Emilion and Margaux. Finally, Syrah is the basis for the great wines from the northern Rhône, such as the famous wines Côte-Rôtie and Hermitage.

French White Wine

White wines are of course made throughout the country, but the most important areas for white wine are Loire, Burgundy and Alsace. Three wine regions located further north in France. Here, French wine is made from well-known grape varieties such as chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, pinot gris and riesling, but also from lesser-known varieties such as aligoté, chasselas, gewurztraminer and melon de bourgogne. Chardonnay is the basis for the white wines from Burgundy and in the Loire there are fine examples of the sauvignon grape from Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, for example.

French sparkling wines

In addition to the still wines, France is of course known for the sparkling wines that are made in Champagne, of course, but also in the Loire, Jura, Alsace and Burgundy. In Champagne, chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier form the basis of sparkling wines made with the classic second fermentation in the bottle.
