Michael D Etzel & Damien Lapuyade

The Beaux Frères story began in 1986 when Michael G. Etzel, then a wine merchant in Colorado Springs, took a road trip to Oregon with his young family after reading a glowing review of an ’83 Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley. He found a unique property and purchased it with the help of his sister and brother-in-law Robert Parker. They moved to the farm the following summer, with three young boys in tow, and Michael began his focused career as a vineyard manager, planting only Pinot Noir and slowly transforming the farm into their jewel. Today, the winery is run by a team of professionals led by middle son, Michael D. Etzel, and is considered one of Oregon’s top wineries. Website: www.beauxfreres.com

A new generation – including CEO and Technical Director Mike D. Etzel and Winemaker Damien Lapuyade – now oversee the day-to-day operations of Beaux Frères, assisted in the vineyard by the two longest-serving employees, Rogelio Rosales (29 years) and Omar Perea (24 years). As harvest approaches, the team grows to include a number of interns, a Harvest Supervisor, seasonal tasting room guides and a few extra hands in the vineyard.

Ripe fruit like black cherries and other red fruits, but certainly also spicy notes. The oak ageing is beautifully incorporated into the wine and in balance with the fruit, as well as the silky tannins.
