About the winemaker
Duncan Savage graduated from Elsenburg Agricultural College in 2002, as one of the top students. That same year, he also began working as a winemaker at Cape Point Vineyards. In 2004, he additionally became responsible for the vineyards, or viticulturist. Duncan is a traditional winemaker, so he also uses traditional winemaking methods in the cellar. He works not only with stainless steel tanks, but also with oak barrels and clay amphorae. In 2011 he was given the opportunity to start making wines under his own name. Over the years Duncan has learned to deal with vineyards located on the coast and at higher altitudes, so-called coolclimate terroir. The knowledge he has gained is reflected in the wines under his own name. The red wines do not have a high alcohol content. They are rather slender and elegant, rather than thick and ripe, as one so often sees in the new world.

Details
| Vineyard | For the Salt River Sauvignon Blanc Duncan Savage selected two vineyard sites in Western Cape. The anchor of this wine is a 35-year-old bush vine vineyard grown on the slopes of Bottelary in Stellenbosch. The other component is an awesome maritime vineyard in Stanford. |

| Vinification | This Sauvignon Blanc is fermented in a combination of stainless steel tanks, concrete eggs and old barrels. The wine spends four months on lees before being bottled, followed by another two months in the bottle prior to release. |
