About the winemaker
The Domaine Y. Clerget is one of the oldest domains in Burgundy. The family has been making wine since 1268 and therefore for 28 (!) generations and is therefore closely connected to the region and terroir of Burgundy. Since 2015, Thibaud Clerget (1991) has been responsible for vinification on the family estate. He works his six hectares of vineyards with unprecedented precision and with respect for nature. With vineyards in Volnay, Pommard, Clos de Vougeot and Meursault, he watches over the family property every day. The cellars are located in Pommard and here the wines are raised with an unprecedented passion and talent.

Details
| Vineyard | The Clerget family's property in the premier cru Rugiens is 0.85 hectares and the vineyard was planted in the 1970s. So it is quite a seriously large property, located mainly in Rugiens Haut. The soil here is rich in pebbles and calcareous rock. |

| Vinification | The vinification at Thibaud is highly dependent on the vintage. Vinification entière one year and no vinification the next, use of new oak depends on the appellation of origin etc. This premier cru is for 20% raised on new oak. The upbringing in 228 liter oak barrels is 12 months and after this the wine stays on tank for another 4 months after blending. In 2019, 20% of the bunches were not de-stemmed. |
