Pofadder 2024
The Sadie Family WinesThis wine is pure elegance, but nevertheless has enormous depth. An example of how a simple way of making wine can lead to a great wine. Many red cherries and a light citrus tone mark the aroma and taste.

About the winemaker
Eben Sadie is counted among the pioneers in South African viticulture. Because of his insight it can be said, that the Swartland region came in a completely different light. It was Eben, who found the older vineyards here and made his famous Columella and Palladius. In 2012 he started a series of wines, also called the Ouwingerd series. A series of wines from vineyards with very old vines and the wines made from them are stunning. Through low yields and the craftsmanship of Eben Sadie, a new series of top wines from the Cape is born.

Details
| Vineyard | Wine from a vineyard in Swartland, whose soil is rich in shale. The vineyard is located on Riebeek Mountain and was clearly the favorite vineyard out of the five choices, which were there for a Cinsault wine. |

| Vinification | After the harvest there is a strict selection to pick out both unripe and overripe grapes. The bunches are then fully fermented in an open vat and twice daily there is a punchdown. After a month the grapes are pressed in a basket press and then the wine goes into oak foudres for 11 months. The yield is 28hl/ha and the wine is neither clarified nor filtered and is best decanted before drinking. |
