About the winemaker
After graduating from Elsenberg in 2010, Reenen went to work at the family estate in Stellenbosch and he is currently counted among the most talented winemakers in the country. In recent years, his star has been rising, partly due to his amazing syrah wines. Perhaps the knowledge he gained during his internship at Hermitage in the Rhone Valley contributed to this. Reenen's latest project is in Montagu, where he took over a vineyard from Chris Alheit and where he now makes his Patatsblanc and Patatsfontein, two unique white wines.

Details
| Vineyard | The grapes for this wine come from a vineyard some 80 kilometers from Stellenbosch with a strongly slatey soil. The vineyard is only 0.6 hectares and was formerly planted with sweet potatoes, hence the name. The grapes from the vineyard were first used by Chris Alheit for his Carthology, but due to the distance between the vineyard and his winery, he handed the vineyard over to Reenen. |

| Vinification | A total of five harvests were done on this vineyard. The vines are planted as a field blend. Whole bunch-pressed and a vinification with as little intervention as possible. Fermentation and upbringing in older oak barrels, for 10 months. |
