About the winemaker
L’Abeuradou is located in the Minervois region, on the hills east of Carcassonne in western Languedoc. Here, in the garrigue-clad foothills of the Montagne Noir, the focus is on crafting characterful, terroir-driven wines in the Minervois appellation. This region is known for its breathtaking landscapes and diverse geography, featuring rolling hills, chalky soils, and a mosaic of microclimates. Due to the wide variation in terroir, the appellation is divided into five sub-regions. L’Abeuradou cultivates vineyards in three distinct sub-zones to fully express the diversity of the Minervois region. Sustainable viticulture is paramount: the grapes are hand-harvested and vinified naturally, often with whole bunches for added freshness and structure. The wines are aged in both oak and concrete barrels, depending on the character of the plot, with the aim of optimally reflecting the unique aroma, finesse and expression of the terroir.

Details
| Vineyard | Vineyards in Les Causses, a series of limestone terraces covered with heat-reflecting white stones, ranging in altitude from 250 to 500 meters. The terraces benefit from the cool north wind and are known respectively as "Petite Causse," "Grande Causse," and "Cazèle." |
|---|---|
| Vinification | The grapes were harvested early in the morning, and after selection, a short maceration of the skins follows. Traditional fermentation with gentle pumping over. After pressing, the wine is aged partly in cement tanks, partly in egg-shaped cement vats, and partly in 500-liter oak barrels. The wine is not filtered before bottling. The final blend consists of 90% Syrah and 10% Grenache. |
