About De Lange

Our history

“de Lange” was founded in 1996 by Wladimir Bratkowski and Dolf ten Houte de Lange. In fact, it is a continuation of the company that Dolf’s grandfather founded in Haarlem in 1878 under the name Verkruijse & de Lange. Dolf sold the family business to a large importer in 1989 to work there. However, his passion for the business remained, and in 1996, he decided to re-establish “De Lange” together with Wladimir. The philosophy became: specialized work with small family estates, where quality comes first. In 2008, Paul Frankhuizen, who had been working at de Lange since 1998, became a co-owner, and in 2016, Dolf sold his remaining shares to Paul. “de Lange” moved from Oosterhout in Brabant to the neighboring city of Breda in 2018. Since September 2022, Wijnkooperij de Lange has been based with its office in Leiden. All wines are stored with our logistics partner. The address in Leiden is office only and has no shop.

Our wines

From the beginning, we strive to continuously find the best wines in each region. Wines that are characterised by their unique high quality and that are also made by passionate winemakers with respect for nature and the environment. In short, wines that can charm the lover of a perfect glass of wine. Wines mostly from family domains that, like us, put quality, respect for nature, grapes and terroir first.

Our relations

We are proud of our cooperation with the absolute top in Dutch gastronomy. Every day, passionate restaurateurs, enthusiastic sommeliers and committed chefs confirm that our search for the best gastronomic wines proves successful. Our wines create the perfect match for the refined dishes they present. Our range includes more than 300 wines from the most beautiful regions, from the best producers. The wines find their way to the cellars of the gastronomy and wine lovers in the Netherlands.

Our Team

"de Lange" is a wine importer with employees who share their passion for wine and have plenty of professionalism, both in terms of training and experience. Paul has been working at Wijnkooperij de Lange since 1998. Already at a young age he aspired a career in the wine trade and he got the chance to do so at Wijnkooperij de Lange. Together with the founder he worked on building up the assortment, the growth of the company and in 2016 he took over the company. Besides the composition of the assortment, he manages the sales team, develops e-commerce and maintains contacts with both gastronomy relations and our wine producers.

Arne joined Wijnkooperij de Lange as an account manager in 2019. His love for wine originated in the South of France. When he was young, he went on holiday to his uncle and with him he collected wine from small local farmers. This led him to study wine in depth, follow courses and obtain diplomas. This all led to a career in gastronomy at restaurants such as Inter Scaldes, Wolfslaar and Vista. The experience gained in these restaurants enables him to advise our clients perfectly on the composition of the wine list, wine-food combinations and margin calculations. Arne's preference for wine lies in Burgundy and it is nice that we have a portfolio with the biggest names from his favourite region.

Yannick has been added to our team since 2024. During his hotel management training and various internships and jobs at home and abroad, he has now been working in the wine trade for more than 10 years. With several wine/food diplomas under his belt, he is an enthusiastic sparring partner for advice on wine-food combinations, advising and building wine lists and providing training to teams. His experience, broad smile and passion make him a great asset and addition to the sales team.

Chris joined our team in 2026. With 16 years of experience in the hospitality industry — from brasseries to fine dining restaurants — Chris has developed a broad perspective on hospitality and the wine experience. In his last hospitality role, he managed a wine list featuring over 250 carefully selected wines. The move to the world of wine in 2018 was therefore a natural step. Since then, Chris has specialized in curating balanced wine lists and advising on food and wine pairings, always with the aim of enabling guests to enjoy wine in an accessible and professional manner.

Feddo has extensive experience in the wine trade. He was captivated by the magic of wine at an early age and initially developed and used his knowledge in the catering industry. After training as a vinologist, he worked at several wine specialty stores in the Netherlands. He likes to use his knowledge to help private clients select the right wines. In addition to managing the order process, logistics and inventory management, Feddo is responsible for private sales and our webshop.

Diana worked in tourism, healthcare, and real estate, among other sectors, as a secretary and property management employee, for example, before joining the Wijnkooperij de Lange team. Given her diverse roles, it is safe to say she is an all-rounder. After Paul took over the company in 2016, Diana started working there. She is responsible for financial administration, maintains contact with our private clients, and serves as our Office Manager.
