About the winemaker
Duncan Savage graduated from Elsenburg Agricultural College in 2002, as one of the top students. That same year, he also began working as a winemaker at Cape Point Vineyards. In 2004, he additionally became responsible for the vineyards, or viticulturist. Duncan is a traditional winemaker, so he also uses traditional winemaking methods in the cellar. He works not only with stainless steel tanks, but also with oak barrels and clay amphorae. In 2011 he was given the opportunity to start making wines under his own name. Over the years Duncan has learned to deal with vineyards located on the coast and at higher altitudes, so-called coolclimate terroir. The knowledge he has gained is reflected in the wines under his own name. The red wines do not have a high alcohol content. They are rather slender and elegant, rather than thick and ripe, as one so often sees in the new world.

Details
| Vineyard | Duncan Savage selected the fruit from the vineyards of his close friend Boetie van Reenen who sadly passed away in 2018 due to a tragic accident. The vineyards were planted in Boetie's birth year (1981) and can be found in Darling. The grapes are hand-picked. |

| Vinification | After harvest, the grapes are fermented and aged in new and old large wooden barrels of French oak. 50% of the grapes were fermented as a whole-bunch. There is minimal intervention during vinification, to allow as much terroir as possible to be reflected in the wines. |
