About the winemaker
The Pourtalié family has had their property in the Hérault for many years when son Fréderic urged his father to quit the local cave cooperative in 1998. He was inspired by the winemakers around them and especially after his internships with Laurent Vaillé (Domaine de la Grange des Pères), Alain Graillot (Hermitage) and the Alary family (L'Oratoire St. Martin) convinced of the potential of the family vineyards . These are located in Puéchabon and Aniane and thus in the Terrasses du Larzac appellation. All vineyards are organically farmed and differ in soil. In Puchéabon, syrah and grenache are planted on a soil rich in limestone. Frédéric calls this soil éboulis de calcaire. In Aniane, mourvèdre is planted on a soil with "galets roules", the large pebbles that we also see in Chateauneuf-du-Pape.

The Grenache vines are planted on a limestone plateau facing north, near the town of Puéchabon. The vines are around 30 years old and the vineyards are farmed organically. The grapes are harvested and destemmed manually. |

Spontaneous vinification with indigenous yeasts with a 30 day maceration. Aging for 24 months in oak barrels aged 1 to 3 years. After vinification, the wine is blended and stays on tank for two more months to rest. The wine is bottled without filtration. |
