About the winemaker
L’Abeuradou is located in the Minervois region, on the hills east of Carcassonne in western Languedoc. Here, in the garrigue-clad foothills of the Montagne Noir, the focus is on crafting characterful, terroir-driven wines in the Minervois appellation. This region is known for its breathtaking landscapes and diverse geography, featuring rolling hills, chalky soils, and a mosaic of microclimates. Due to the wide variation in terroir, the appellation is divided into five sub-regions. L’Abeuradou cultivates vineyards in three distinct sub-zones to fully express the diversity of the Minervois region. Sustainable viticulture is paramount: the grapes are hand-harvested and vinified naturally, often with whole bunches for added freshness and structure. The wines are aged in both oak and concrete barrels, depending on the character of the plot, with the aim of optimally reflecting the unique aroma, finesse and expression of the terroir.

Details
| Vineyard | Originating from the relatively cool, north-southeast-facing vineyards of Félines Minervois, covered by a layer of metamorphic schist, situated between two plateaus of calcareous soil at an altitude of 300-400 meters. |
|---|---|
| Vinification | The grapes are harvested entirely by hand. After selection, each plot is vinified separately, partly whole-bunch, in cement tanks of various sizes with gentle pumping over. After pressing, the wine is aged in 400-liter oak barrels. The wine is unfiltered before bottling. The final blend consists of 63% Syrah and 37% Carignan. |
