About the winemaker
Brookdale is the estate of Tim Rudd. This Englishman has fallen for the land, the wines and the wine regions of South Africa. In Paarl, he found the estate that he thought had a great future. Tim surrounded himself with the best South African specialists he could find. Duncan Savage as consultant winemaker and Jaco Engelbrecht as viticulturist. Together they decided to go for field-blends with white and red Rhone varieties and of course chenin blanc. Especially the older vineyards, which were already planted with chenin blanc show, that the soil which is rich in granite, clay, quartz and schist is extremely suitable for this grape variety. As of 2019, Kiara Scott is responsible for the vinification for all wines at Brookdale Estate.

| Vinification | The grapes are not destemmed after the harvest and are gently pressed. After a light pressing, the fermentation starts with natural yeasts in 500 liter French oak barrels (25% new). After about 12 months the wine is bottled and then the wine remains in the bottle for another 4 months. |
