About the winemaker
Alexander Vineyards is situated at the very tip of False Bay. It is located on a headland surrounded by both the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. Two oceans that provide significant cooling and create a unique maritime climate. Alexander Vineyards is rooted in family, a unique terroir, and creative innovation.
In the 1960s, Alexander Moir left the Cape Town shipyards to pursue his dream of establishing his own farm at the Cape. Many years later, his grandson, Stephen Newton, has proudly breathed new life into his grandfather's vision.
Today, Alexander Vineyards is a tribute to heritage, craftsmanship, and deep respect for the landscape. The philosophy is clear: great wines are born in the vineyard. With minimal intervention and maximum attention, every step is carefully executed. The wine is given the time to develop depth and character.
Fermentation is controlled, partly in clay amphorae, and aging takes place partly in carefully selected oak barrels.
